Disney Holotile: Explore Futuristic Finds Today!

Did you know Disney is technically a tech company?
And to be quite honest, most companies are operating under the identity of tech companies.
It's honestly the future to how you survive in today's competitive, rapidly moving market.
Disney has a business sector specifically designed to be the “Apple” of Disneyland, and it's known as Disney Imagineering.

It's the creative force behind Disney that helps bring theme parks to life.
Imagineering is responsible for designing and constructing immersive attractions that transport guests to imaginative universes made by Disney
Here's some cool snaps from stuff they work on:

And featuring their latest creation, the Holotile:

It's basically a high-tech treadmill that allows you to move in place.
You can be in an immersive environments and move around, but the holotile keeps you in place but updates the environment around you as if you are in it!
It's like taking VR/AR and truly bringing it to reality allow a interesting multiverse experience.
It's so high-tech that you not only just let people walk on it, but it has really great tracking & gesture abilities so you can move object around on the floor by just extending an arm towards the screen.
Just like using the FORCE from Star Wars!

Oh yeah, by the way, this is the creator Lanny Smoot. He's the inventor of the Holotile.
And he's the First Disney Imagineer Inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
And he has over 106 patents (with more in the works).
I honestly don't think he gets enough spotlight that he deserves, so here's a quick biography video to learn more about him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_KC90KFbSw
Lanny Smoot is like the modern day Steve Jobs.

Back to the Holotile.
Disney notes the holotile has a wide range of possibilities of being used.
"The HoloTile floor can also be an insert in a theatrical stage, allowing performers to move and dance in new ways, or stage props and structures to move around or appear to set themselves up."
Smoot also note "we don't know yet where that will be used."
Nonetheless this technology is something cool to watch develop.
And if you want to get a deeper dive.
Watch this MKBHD video. He's the ONLY person from outside of Disney that was able to get sneak peak at the Holotile.
And needless to say.. HE WAS IMPRESSED!
